Wine growing is our calling and it is our aim to produce an exquisite vintage every year. We are particularly attentive to our Riesling, richly pampered by the sun, couched in the clay-slaty soil of our unique Rheingau location, that lends the vine an undisputed 'Riesling' taste. Our red wines also enjoy a natural environment as they spend up to 18 months maturing in small barrique casks, which, in their unchanged form produce exactly the desired effect : a delicate and honeyed blend for our clients. This family business manages 34 hectares of vintage country in Eltville and Hochheim and includes the cultivation of 'Spätburgunder' and 'Merlot'. As one of the first and to date the only wine estate in the Rheingau region we have successfully produced a red Spätburgunder "first grow" - year 2002. Hof Bechtermünz in Eltville was built some 580 years ago on the Rhine and later became known worldwide. Although Gutenburg originally appreciated the location of this respected estate, in 1467 he established one of the most pertinent publishing houses of the world here. Under his jurisdiction, the brothers Heinrich and Nicholas Bechtermünz completed one of today's most well-known artefacts of printed work : the 'Vocabularium ex Quo', one of the first printed dictionaries in the world.
